How has HSP participation enhanced your college experience at UNI? My participation in the Honors program has enhanced my college experience because the coursework has prepared me to do really well in not just my honors classes but also the classes in my major, minor, and certificate. The honors program has also enhanced the relationships I have made with various professors here on campus, as I have been able to learn a lot just from attending their office hours and from talking about various class related material which usually isn't possible with other UNI professors who have a lot more students. The honors program has also enhanced my communication and writing skills which has been super helpful. It has also enhanced my grades in my other classes when I have to give presentations about certain things or write reports and papers in other non-honors courses.

What is your favorite part about being in HSP? My favorite part about being in the Honors and Scholars Program is the connections I have made throughout my participation in the program. I am still in touch with a lot of people that were in my honors group my freshman year and have good relationships and friendships with them. Also, I am able to make a lot of friends in the honors classes that I take because the Honors and Scholars program has super low class sizes compared to other courses here at UNI, and I still have most of those connections today.

How has your HSP experience prepared you for life after UNI? My honors and scholars experience has prepared me for life after UNI in 2 main ways. First, it has given me many experiences to grow in my critical thinking skills by  writing papers or engaging in discussions with other honors students. This has prepared me for my career after UNI because I can share my great critical thinking skills with future employers in order to get a good paying job. Secondly, it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. Once I got out of high school, I was not a huge fan of projects or small group activities. Once I got into the honors program and took my first honors class, it forced me to go out of my comfort zone and engage in small group activities as well as complete a 10 page project at the very end. This has prepared me for life after UNI as it has taught me that I can learn a lot and grow a lot by going out of my comfort zone, and that taking risks is a key part of any career that I get after graduating from UNI.
