How has HSP participation enhanced your college experience at UNI? The Honors Program has provided me with unique opportunities to take charge in my education and explore concepts more in depth beyond the textbooks. So far one of the most memorable experiences that I have had was studying abroad and I felt like the Program helped me take on the journey of traveling out of the country for the first time.
What is your favorite part about being in HSP? I like how students can take charge in their own educational experiences. This program has reinforced positive educational habits such as being productive and staying disciplined to your goals, but also remaining curious and open-minded about new possibilities.
How has your HSP experience prepared you for life after UNI? The Honors and Scholars experience has taught me to stay curious. Learning does not end in the classroom. It is the people who dare to be brave enough to share humility who make changes in the world. We live in a society where perfection is the goal, causing people to be afraid to take chances, be wrong, lose, and fail. I think I was once like that, and it made my education miserable and my academics surface level. This program taught me that a person who holds wisdom is someone who knows that they don't know everything and that is okay.
