How has HSP participation enhanced your college experience at UNI? Becoming involved with HSP was easily one of the best decisions of my college career. I was able to challenge myself academically, make professional connections, and meet the coolest people! I discovered my passion for research because I completed an honors contract my freshman year, and my professor encouraged me to join my first research lab at UNI. My honors coursework also set me up for success because I am able to hone my analytical and critical thinking skills. Outside of academics, I've met some of my best friends through the honors program!
How has your HSP experience prepared you for life after UNI? As I apply for graduate school, the opportunities I have been given through the HSP will boost my transcript, resume, and personal statement. Writing an honors thesis and conducting research at the undergraduate level gives me a leg up when applying to schools with competitive research assistantships. Mentorship opportunities through HSP have also given me the chance to interact with a wide variety of students from a variety of different backgrounds.
