How has HSP participation enhanced your college experience at UNI? Participating in the Honors Program at UNI has greatly enriched my college experience by surrounding me with a community of like-minded, motivated individuals who share a passion for learning and growth. The sense of collaboration and support within the program has helped me build meaningful relationships and stay engaged academically. Through the program, I’ve gained access to valuable opportunities for research, scholarships, and academic exploration that I might not have discovered otherwise. Being part of this community has not only strengthened my academic skills but also fostered a sense of belonging and purpose throughout my time at UNI.

What is your favorite part about being in HSP? My favorite part about being in the Honors & Scholars Programs is the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about real-world issues during seminars. These smaller, discussion-based classes create a more personal and intellectually stimulating environment where collaboration and diverse perspectives are encouraged. I’ve appreciated the chance to form closer connections with both peers and professors, which has made learning more engaging and impactful. Additionally, the support the program offers—through scholarships, research opportunities, and academic advising—has been instrumental in helping me reach my goals and make the most of my college experience.

How has your HSP experience prepared you for life after UNI? My experience in the Honors and Scholars Programs has played a key role in preparing me for life after UNI, particularly as I pursue graduate school. The academic rigor, research opportunities, and personalized support have helped me build a strong foundation that will make me a standout applicant. Through engaging seminars, challenging coursework, and meaningful discussions on real-world issues, I’ve developed critical thinking and communication skills that are essential for graduate-level study. The programs have also helped me become a more well-rounded individual by encouraging exploration beyond my major and fostering personal growth through collaboration and cultural experiences, such as study abroad. In addition, the academic advising and mentorship I’ve received have been invaluable in guiding my goals and helping me navigate my next steps with confidence
